Proclaim liberty, Proclaim the year of Jubilee!
The 70th Jubilee
Leviticus 25:10
Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for yoµñ Neo ÀϹÝü"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: "Apple SD »êµ¹°íµñ Neo ¹«°Å¿î"'>From Yom Kippur of 2015 to Yom Kippur of 2015, it is the 70th Jubilee. Its symbolic meaning has enormous significance to us. In this important time, crucial values found in the meaning of Jubilee that we want to stress out for this year are ¡®the gospel¡¯ and ¡®neighbor¡¯. In the year of Jubilee, God commands us to proclaim liberty that ultimately signifies Jesus Christ and his gospel. So we will basically share gospel among us and proclaim it to others.
¡°The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.¡± (Luke 4:18-19)
The other value is ¡®neighbor¡¯. In the year of Jubilee, Israelites are to let go of slaves, write off a debt, and pay back on behalf of the poor. So God here shows us the importance of thinking about and taking care of our neighbors, especially those who are in need. Proclaiming liberty and the year of Jubilee means not only just acknowledging and proclaiming it to others, but living out its meaning in our lives.
When we talk about the gospel and neighbor, it is no doubt we cannot think one separated from the other. They go together, as if Jesus teaches us we need to love God with all we are and we need to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We, HEWS, as one body of Christ will continue to find the hope of Glory and Grace by sharing the good news, and we will strive to reach out to our neighbors to serve them with humility of Jesus.
